Mehmet Aktas

Mehmet Aktas is an assistant professor and John T. Beresford Endowed Chair in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics at the University of Central Oklahoma. He received his Ph.D. degree from the Department of Mathematics at Florida State University and his MS degree is from the Department of Mathematics at the Bilkent University.  His research interests are in the area of computational mathematics and mathematics education. He has been teaching mathematics in three different universities in the United States and in Europe for the last twelve years as a course instructor, teaching assistant and a research mentor. During these years, he received distinguished teaching and distinguished service awards. When not teaching and doing research, Mehmet enjoys volunteering in non-profits, playing soccer, going on hikes, and planning for the next adventure with the wife and kids.
